Enotourism

The area of Custoza DOC wine is one to be experienced all year round: it is the ideal place for long walks, or for a few bike rides, among the rows of those vines that then find their truest expression in the winery.

Rivers, mills, castles, villas and widespread museums are just waiting to be discovered. Wineries, restaurants of ancient tradition and agritourisms host with passion and kindness, making guests rediscover the pleasure of the typical familiar, warm and authentic welcome.

The wineries, led by enthusiastic and dynamic producers, involve guests in the discovery of our wines, surprise with picnics, vineyard tastings, yoga classes, art sessions and sensory experiences that make them want to return to these places.

Custoza Experience

Wonderful itineraries on foot, by bicycle (or e-bike) and on horseback are readily available to discover the territories of the Land of Custoza and its appellation. These include: the route of the Tamburino Sardo (a character from the Italian Risorgimento whose heroic story, which was narrated by De Amicis in the book Cuore, is strongly linked to these places), the Cammina Custoza or of the historical places that were the scene of the Risorgimento battles of 1848 and 1866, including the evocative Ossuary of Custoza (ossariodicustoza.it).

There is no shortage of itineraries throughout the production area: the Custoza area is a stone’s throw away from numerous rare historical and natural beauties: the Mincio Park, the Sigurtà Garden Park, the Castles of Villafranca and Valeggio.

The Custoza area is perfect for families, who can combine a food and wine visit for the older ones with exciting experiences for the children in the many amusement parks in the area, including not only Gardaland, CanevaWorld, MovieLand, and SeaLife, but also the Natura Viva Wildlife Park for animal lovers.

Custoza is also ideally located for those who love to visit wonderful cities: less than 40 km away is Verona, a city of love, art, and history, and Mantua, a place of unique charm, as well as the resorts of Lake Garda such as Peschiera, Lazise, and many others. Along the Mincio River, not to be missed is Borghetto sul Mincio (declared one of the most beautiful villages in Italy) and its Visconti bridge.

The gastronomic scene is rich in specialties: famous – and a perfect match for Custoza DOC – is the tortellino of Valeggio sul Mincio, also known as Nodo d’Amore.

It is a must, for food lovers, to also taste the other specialties of the area, including – just to name a few – the typical broccoletto di Custoza Slow Food presidium, the extra virgin olive oil DOP del Garda, the sfogliatine di Villafranca, the barbecued cockerel of Santa Lucia ai Monti, the speciality of Sona of veal cheeks braised in Custoza wine, the tastasàl ( seasoned pork) risotto and the thousands of exquisite cheeses and cured meats of the area.
