Custoza is a land traversed by history, close to large and elegant cities such as Verona and Mantua.

Although close to highly touristic places such as Lake Garda and the city of Verona, the Land of Custoza is still, unexpectedly, little known and precisely because of this it retains the authenticity and charm of destinations yet to be discovered.

The production area of Custoza DOC is located in the southwestern part of the Garda morainic amphitheater, on hills originating from glacial deposits that occurred in the Pleistocene era, covering 1400 hectares on the territory of 9 municipalities: Sommacampagna, Sona, Villafranca di Verona, Valeggio sul Mincio, Peschiera del Garda, Castelnuovo del Garda, Lazise, Pastrengo and Bussolengo. To the southwest the area is bounded by the Mincio River.

The morainic landscape that characterizes the production area is marked by a dense series of elongated hills, with a predominantly gentle slope and gradients between 50 and 100 metres. These hills, formed by the deposits left by the glaciers that formed the nearby Lake Garda, have extremely varied and variable soils, light and loose, rich in rock fragments, interspersed with broad gravelly plains and typical well-smoothed stony deposits that ensure perfect water drainage. The composition of the soil is predominantly calcareous, an element that gives the wines sapidity and minerality.

Hot but not sultry summers and moderately cold winters, tempered by the proximity to Lake Garda, determine a unique microclimate favorable to vine cultivation, unmistakably characterizing the wines. In fact, the temperature ranges allow the grapes to ripen fully, bringing acidity values to constant levels, which is fundamental for bringing Custoza its typical freshness and delicious aromas.
